Hold a place on campus to help students register to vote.

NYSDSC and NY State Institutions together with the REV UP network is composed of state and national coalitions that work to advance the Disability Vote. This is a non-partisan initiative within New York State to inspire college students with disabilities toward voter turnout and civic engagement.

Celebrate Disability Voting Rights Week: September 9-13, 2024 by holding a spot on campus to help students register to vote. Below on this webpage find the links to a toolkit designed for all the information you need.

 Please register your University Voting Campaign Event at this link. When you sign up, you will become a member of the NYS Coalition of Higher Education and Disability's (NYSCHED) email list for the toolkit information and further events such as Spring Student Empowerment day in Albany.

Qualifications to Register to Vote in New York

  • *Translation is available at the New York State Board of Elections Website

    • be a United States citizen;
    • be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18);
    • resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election;
    • not be in prison for a felony conviction; If you are not incarcerated, you can register to vote (new law 2021)
    • not found to be incompetent by a court;
    • not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

Voter Registration Deadlines

Applications must be postmarked no later than October 26, 2024, and received by a board of elections no later than October 26, 2024, to be eligible to vote in the General Election.

Once the form is completed, you need to print the form and sign it. The board of elections cannot accept any kind of digital or Adobe-generated signature. The links have accessible formats.
